"You that come to birth and bring the mysteries, your voice-thunder makes us very happy." —Rumi
Sarah Mitchell LM, CPM
I began work with women during pregnancy and birth in 1993. Like many of my sister midwives, I fell deeply in love with birthing and the empowerment of women in labor. Working as a doula/birth assistant and prenatal massage therapist from 1998-2005, I worked with over a hundred women at Stanford University Hospital and Sequoia Hospital in Bay Area of California. My midwifery training was with: National Midwifery Institute, Taos Birth Center, Birthing Your Way, Maternidad La Luz Clinic and private home-birth practices. I am a Certified Professional Midwife, having passed the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) national exam.
As a young child I played midwife with my best girlfriends; picking plants from the garden, making “medicines” and setting up house. The voices of my grandmothers, the path they endured for good safe care, have quietly guided my commitment to bring pleasurable and practical health and healing to women of all walks of life. Mothering my only daughter has continued to shed light and truth on the divine architecture of the human body and its sacred beauty.
From 2005 to the present I have blended midwifery & well woman care, coaching, Nia, and Arvigo Mayan Massage serving well over 250 women and families.
Serving my clients gives me great joy.
